ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition on Friday staged a strong protest against the increase in the POL products in the National Assembly and the Senate.

The opposition members chanted the slogans of 'shame, shame'. Later, they staged a walkout from the House.

Expressing his views in the Senate, Leader of the House Dr Shahzad Wasim said that flour and sugar were sold on the black market during the PPP tenure.

PPP Senator Mustafa Khokhar demanded suspension of the agenda of the Upper House. Senator Yousaf Raza Gillani said that the relief package had ended after the increase in the prices of the POL products.

Senator Mushtaq asked the rulers to learn a lesson from the French revolution, otherwise the starved people would reach the Houses.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, PML-N MNA Khawaja Asif said that the petrol bomb was dropped on the people in the darkness. "Where is the person that used to stand on the container?" he questioned.

He said that the inflation was intolerable and the existence of the country was at stake. He also called for bringing the secret agreement with a banned outfit in the National Assembly.

Later, the NA session was postponed until Monday evening due to lack of quorum.
