ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition staged a vigorous protest after the government presented the mini-budget in the National Assembly on Thursday.

The opposition members raised an uproar and besieged the dais of the speaker. They also displayed posters inscribed with slogans against the government.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin presented the Finance Supplementary Bill. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan tabled a motion to suspend the rules to present the mini-budget.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar gave the ruling that amendments to the Finance Bill will not be sent to the Standing Committee. Meanwhile, PPP's Shagufta Jamani and PTI's Ghazala Saifi scuffled with each other.

During the session, JUI's Maulana Asad Mehmood and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar exchanged hot words with each other. Maulana Asad Mehmood said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The speaker challenged Maulana Asad Mehmood to see the situation in the next phase of the elections.

Maulana Asad Mehmood questioned what sort of country is this where the house of Imran Khan is regularized while 50-year-old mosques are demolished in Karachi. "The government will have to take the notice over the sensitive issue," he added.

Later, the session was postponed till 11am on Friday after the opposition pointed out the lack of quorum during the speech of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
