Opposition withdraw no-confidence motion against NA deputy speaker

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition parties have withdrawn the no-confidence motion against National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri on Friday after agreement of settlement on important matters with consensus between government and opposition. Speaking to the floor of NA on Friday, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif said that the decision has been taken following the government and the opposition agreed to bring legislation on important matters with consensus. He also said that the no-confidence motion against Qasim Suri was their protest against him. “The government agreed to take back several Presidential Ordinances from NA. Now they also withdraw the no-confidence motion,” he maintained. Speaking in NA, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak said that meetings with the opposition over the last few days have proved to be very effective and both the sides have agreed to move forward with consensus to ensure smooth functioning of the Parliament. He said the sanctity of the House will be upheld with the cooperation of the Opposition parties. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Swati said that more discussion will be held on Medical Tribunal Ordinance, Pakistan Medical Commission Ordinance and the Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission Ordinance, 2019. Bills on these three ordinances will be brought with consensus. On the occasion, treasury and opposition members welcomed the posture by the government and opposition to move forward on the matter of legislation with consensus. The House offered fateha for the departed souls of those who died due to lightening in Thar. Earlier, the government has decided to introduce legal reforms through six presidential ordinances.  According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan has allowed to promulgate eight ordinances for different reforms. The Law Ministry has prepared the proposed ordinances and their detail will be presented in a meeting of the cabinet. The ordinances will be promulgated for reforms in civil laws, formation of the Legal and Justice Authority, protecting the inheritance rights of women, service tribunal, providing citizens legal assistance and legal system pertaining to girls and women.
