Our efforts for peace in Afghanistan will continue, says FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmod Qureshi has said that efforts of Pakistan for peace in Afghanistan will continue.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that Pakistan will continue to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international forum. "Pakistan has also highlighted Islamophobia and now it is being dicussed across the world. The government also took several steps for overseas Pakistanis," he added.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that trade with the African countries has increased by seven percent. "We have launched a new policy regarding Central Asia and Africa. Prime Minister Imran Khan raised voice against illegal transfer of money from developing countries and demanded its return.”

He said that he had visited 32 countries. “In 2021, Pakistan participated in 35 international forums. In the United Nations (UN), 35 resolutions were presented. We made 25 diplomatic contracts. The situation of Afghanistan is challenging and and we have decided to play our role over the Afghanistan situation.”

Shah Mahmood said that the world had appreciated their role in dialogues in 2020. “Pakistan helped 80,000 people in their safe evacuation from Afghanistan and we announced humanitarian help of Rs5 billion to Afghanistan.”

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar were also present.
