Our strike has no link with Maulana’s march, say traders

LAHORE (92 News) – Traders have clarified that their strike has no link with the march and sit-in of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rahman. Addressing a joint press conference on Wednesday, they said that they will observe countrywide shutdown on October 29 and 30. Tanzeem-e-Tajran chief Kashif Chaudhry said that they will withdraw the strike call if the government accepts their demands. He said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had deceived the traders’ organizations under the garb of talks. “Traders are not thieves, but the FBR does not want to collect the tax,” he said. He threatened to give tough response if their demands were not accepted after the strike. Kashif Chaudhry said that the government should not burden them with the condition of the CNIC and sales tax registration. “We are forced to observe the strike after the long and meaningless sessions of talks,” he said.
