LAHORE (92 News) – The School Education Department has seized over 36,000 textbooks and got registered a case against a private publisher after a change in the topic of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat was noticed in a textbook. The publisher changed the topic of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat in Pakistan Studies for Class 9 and published and distributed over 80,000 textbooks. The authorities concerned took no notice of the crime even after several months of the publication and distribution of the textbooks. After 92 News raised the issue, the School Education Department took notice of the matter and seized the distributed books. 92 News has foiled a heinous conspiracy which was aimed at misleading the young generation over the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat. Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas told 92 News that the government would not tolerate any change in the content of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat in the educational literature. Law expert Rai Bashir has demanded thorough investigations into the matter. Renowned educationist Shazia Ansari said that apparently it seems that the act has been done deliberately because the content is checked at 10 different places. The Punjab Textbook Board has held the private publisher ‘GFH’ responsible for the issue, saying that the published textbook is not according to the approved manuscript. However, the New Anarkali police have registered the case against the authors – Muhammad Hussain Chaudhry and Mrs Azami Azam – under section 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code.
