PA Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi holds IG Punjab responsible for hooliganism

LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi has held the IGP Punjab responsible for hooliganism.

Talking to the media on Saturday, he said that such incident had not occurred in the history of the country. "How did the police enter the House? The IGP will be summoned to the House and held responsible. He will jailed for one month," he maintained.

He said it has been clarified in the Article 69 that court cannot intervene in the assembly proceedings. "Under the Article 68, the judgments of judges are not discussed in the parliament. The judiciary cannot decide what should be done in the assembly," he declared.

The PA speaker said that he had delegated the powers to the deputy speaker as he was contesting the elections. "I withdrew the powers when the deputy speaker misused it. The police have never entered the assembly since the creation of Pakistan," he added.

He said that the incident is a stain on democracy. "We will decide the future strategy keeping in view the conditions," he added.
