PAC members reject NAB chairman's excuse for absence from meeting

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An in-camera meeting of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was held with Rana Tanvir Hussain in the chair.

NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal again did not attend the meeting. In a letter by the NAB, it had been stated that the NAB DG will represent the chairman in the meeting. However, the PAC members rejected the NAB chairman's excuse for absence from the meeting.

PAC Chairman Rana Tanvir said that the NAB chairman must have attended the meeting. "We had to postpone the meeting for this reason," he added.

He said that the in-camera session was called to on the request of the NAB chairman. "There were some sensitive information during today's meeting," he maintained.

PPP leader Naveed Qamar said that the cabinet had no power to stop the NAB chairman from appearing before the cabinet. "The NAB chairman should attend the meeting in person," he demanded.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman questioned whether accountability was only for the politicians.
