PAC orders to stop free supply of electricity to employees of power sector
ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has ordered to stop the free supply of electricity to the employees of the power sector.
During the briefing on Thursday, the Power secretary informed that the power sector is trapped in a quagmire. "We cannot get back even our cost."
He informed the meeting that the main reason behind is the lack of recovery. "Out of 28 million consumers, 18 million consumers are in the category of 0-100. Eight million consumers are getting a subsidy on electricity. An allowance should be merged in the salary of the WAPDA employees instead of giving them free unit," he maintained.
At this, the PAC recommended that the WAPDA employees should be given allowance instead of giving them free electricity.
