LAHORE (92 News) – The fourth death anniversary of female Pakistan’s fighter pilot, Flying Officer, Marium Mukhtar Shaheed is being observed on Sunday. It is pertinent to mention here that Marium was the first female pilot of Pakistan Air Force who sacrificed her life in the line of duty and attained shahdat.
Female PAF pilot dies in trainer jet crash
Marium, after receiving her initial education from Karachi, graduated as a fighter pilot in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in 2007. On May 6, 2011, she joined the Pakistan Air Force in 132 GD Pilot course. She was on a routine training flight with her instructor when her jet developed a fault and crashed at Kandian area in Bhakra near Mianwali on this day in 2015. She was on a mission on an FT-7PG aircraft and encountered a “serious in-flight emergency” during the final stages, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said in a statement when her trainer jet crashed near Kundian area of district Mianwali two years ago.
Martyred female pilot Marium buried with full military honors
The government of Pakistan posthumously honoured Marium Mukhtiar with Tamgha-e-Basalat (Medal of Good Conduct) on 23rd March 2016. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that patriotism, bravery and determination of martyred pilot Marium Mukhtiar is an example for the nation. In his message on the fourth death anniversary of the martyred pilot today, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said brave and talented daughters of the nation like Marium Mukhtiar are an asset and a ray of hope for the nation.
