RAWALPINDI (92 News) – DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the Army is an impartial institution and supports the elected government. Reacting to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s allusion to institutions while addressing Azadi March on Friday, the DG ISPR said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman should name the institution about whom he is talking. The DG ISPR said that no one would be allowed to cause a loss to the country. “Politicians should find out a democratic solution to the issue. There should be no blame game on roads,” he said. He said that the Army had fulfilled its legal and constitutional responsibility in the elections. He asked Maulana Fazlur Rehman to take his objection to the department concerned. “Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a senior politician and he knows what he is saying.” Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that problems are not resolved by staging protests on roads. “The situation on the border is tense. The Pak Army has rendered innumerable sacrifices in the war against terrorism,” he said. He said that innocent Kashmiris are being martyred by Indian troops on the Line of Control. “India will be given a befitting reply in the wake of any aggression,” he added. The DG ISPR said that the country cannot afford any anarchy. “We hope that the matters will advance in a better way,” he said. He was of the view Pakistan had faced difficult time during the last 20 years.
