Pak Army pilots rescue Russian climber Alexander from Latok Peak

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – In a daring rescue attempt early morning on Tuesday, Pakistan Army Aviation pilots rescued a Russian climber Alexander Gukov who was struck at 20,650 feet high Latok Peak in Biafo Glacier in Northern Areas of Pakistan. The Russian climber Alexander Gukov has been shifted to CMH Skardu for necessary medical care. The unprecedented rescue mission was under taken by Pakistan Army Aviation helicopters under extreme weather conditions making it first ever rescue from such height in Pakistan. It is worth mentioning that that the Russian climber was struck on Latok Top since Jul 25 and had exhausted his supplies for last three days. Seven rescue attempts were made between July 26-30, but due to snow clouds the climber couldn’t be located / rescued. Meanwhile, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Russian mountaineer Alexander Gukov at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi. Guvok was rescued by Pak Army Aviators from 20,650 feet high Latok Peak in Pakistani Northern Areas this morning through a very challenging aviation effort.
