Pak Army would have retaliated had there been any surgical strike: Abdul Basit

NEW DELHI (92 News) – Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has on Thursday said that reiterated his earlier stance and said that when there were no strikes conducted by India in Azad Kashmir, then there is no point of commenting on it. "There was no surgical strike. Had there been any surgical strike, Pakistan Army would have retaliated," said Basit, adding that there was only cross-border firing by Indian troops (on September 29), in which two Pakistan army soldiers were martyred. He added that even the Modi government has not yet provided any evidence pertaining to Uri attack. The Pakistani envoy said that he did not see desire on the part of India to engage with Pakistan on the Kashmir dispute. “By blaming Pakistan or calling it a terrorist state (after the terror attack on the Indian Army's Uri camp), you are closing all doors for cooperation,” he added. Indian Army claimed that its forces “carried out surgical strikes along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir attacking militant launch pads”. However, Pakistan rejected the claim and fled media, local and international, to LoC and termed the Indian claims as “routine ceasefire violations done by Indian troops”.
