Pak-China Political Parties Forum expresses satisfaction over CPEC projects

BEIJING (92 News) – The Pak-China Political Parties Forum has expressed satisfaction over progress on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Minister International Department of Communist Party of China, Song Tao co-chaired the first meeting of the forum in Beijing on Tuesday. The forum rejected negative propaganda against CPEC, observing that it is an inclusive project of win-win cooperation, mutual development and prosperity. The participants agreed to further enhance intra-party exchanges, discussions and cooperation between the two countries. They expressed fullest support to the upcoming Second Forum of the Belt and Road Initiative that will be held in Beijing next month. Speaking on the occasion, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the Political Parties Forum would further enhance mutual understanding and reinforce our collective commitment to create a favourable environment for CPEC. Chinese Minister, Song Tao said that CPEC is the flagship project of Belt and Road Initiative and the Political Parties Forum would enhance people-to-people contacts and apprehend new trends for people-centric development in the region. Political parties, including the PTI, the PML-N, the PPP, the JUI, the ANP, the Balochistan National Party, the Balochistan Awami Party, National Party and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party represented Pakistan in the forum. Later talking to Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Communist Party of China Yang Jiechi in Beijing on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project saying the mega project is contributing to the country's economic development and prosperity. He expressed satisfaction over the deliberations in the first Strategic Dialogue between Pakistan and China, reflecting complete convergence of views on issues of mutual interest. He appreciated Chinese consistent support for Pakistan's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. Yang Jiechi stated that Pakistan-China relationship was time-tested and an example in inter-state relations. He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has injected a fresh impetus to bilateral economic cooperation. He assured the foreign minister of his full support in building closer China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future in the new era. Yang Jiechi appreciated Pakistan's role in combating terrorism and its efforts for regional peace, especially in South Asia. He also lauded Pakistan's support for reconciliation efforts in Afghanistan.
