Pak-Iran gas pipline to be completed expeditiously; 700-km pipeline to import LNG from China launched

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Federal Minister for Information Pervez Rashid has said that Pakistan will complete the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project on fast track basis to meet its energy requirements. Speaking at a press breifing on Monday, the minister reminded that despite international pressure in the past, Pakistan did not withdraw from this project. "The Iranian nuclear deal with the world powers has provided us an excellent opportunity to implement this project at the earliest," he said. "This project will help revive our industries, which will generate economic activity and employment opportunities in the country." Meanwhile, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has informed that Pakistan has started construction work on 700 kilometer pipeline to import liquified natural gas from China. Speaking on Monday, the minister said the project will jointly be funded by Pakistan and China. "Gwadar port will be the central hub for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which will allow Western China to gain access to warm waters," he said in an interview. "Chinese funds will benefit Pakistan to complete its Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project."
