Pakistan not ready to become a scapegoat, says Kh Asif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan has made it clear to the US that neither Islamabad is responsible for Washington’s failures in Afghanistan nor it is ready to be made a scapegoat, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said Thursday. Briefing the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, he said that he visited several countries including Saudi Arabia following the US President Donald Trump’s new Afghan policy, adding that Pakistan presented its stance very clearly. The minister said that the US thinks we are using Taliban against them. He told the committee that Pakistan has made it clear to the US that no question should be raised on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, adding that a strong message was also sent through parliament’s resolutions. Kh Asif went on to say that he has also asked the US to pressure India to hold dialogues with Pakistan. American officials were also told that Indian role is based on anarchy, he said. The minister said: “No compromise would be on country’s national interest.”
