Pakistan, Azerbaijan agree to expand bilateral cooperation

BAKU - Pakistan and Azerbaijan on Tuesday agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in economic, trade and investment areas. The understanding came at a meeting between Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on the sidelines of annual meeting of ADB Governors. The two ministers expressed satisfaction on the bilateral relations that exist between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. They also exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interests. The Finance Minister highly praised the economic progress and infrastructure development in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Ishaq Dar apprised Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister about the macro-economic measures undertaken by Pakistan, and explained the development strategy and "peaceful neighbourhood" policy of Pakistan Government. The two Ministers reiterated that both the countries would continue to mutually support each other on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and Nogorno-Karabakh conflict in order to find the resolution of these issues by peaceful means and in accordance with the United Nations resolutions. They also agreed to maintain close contacts in all international forums and institutions particularly United Nations and OIC. – Web Desk
