Pakistan, Azerbaijan to hold joint military drills

BAKU (92 News) – Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has on Friday expressed support for Pakistan's stance on Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) and regretted on the non-implementation of UN resolutions to hold plebiscite on Kashmir. Addressing joint press with visiting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Baku on Friday, President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan will hold a mutual army exercises with Pakistan. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif discussed a wide range of bilateral matters with President Ilham and stressed upon building strong economic and investment ties between the two countries. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said that Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the UN Security Council resolutions. President Aliyev thanked PM Nawaz on accepting his invitation to visit Azerbaijan and announced that Azerbaijan will hold mutual army exercises with Pakistan. “Pakistan is our close friend and ally and both countries support each other on global forums,” he said, adding that cooperation would continue between the two countries in future.   Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said they have agreed to further work in improving relations in fields of economy, investment, trade, energy, defense, agriculture and connectivity. The prime minister demanded withdrawal of Armenian troops from the disputed Nogorno Karabakh and the issue must be resolved peacefully. The Prime Minister appreciated Azerbaijan’s support to Pakistan on the Occupied Kashmir dispute. “We believe that all the regional and global issues must be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means within the framework of international law,” he said in the joint press conference.
