Pakistan, Bahrain agree to continue engaging on regional, global issues

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Pakistan and Bahrain have agreed to continue engaging on regional and global issues and working together to enhance bilateral ties.

The understanding reached during a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Bahraini counterpart Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The two foreign ministers discussed ways to further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations and enhance collaboration in multilateral organizations, in particular the OIC and the United Nations.

Earlier, FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi phoned Qatar Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. They discussed bilateral ties and diplomatic efforts for the resolution of disputes with the Gulf states. 

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the GCC Summit 2021 will promote trust and cooperation among the Gulf states. "Pakistan wants good relations with all Gulf states," he added. 

He appreciated the positive developments that led to a successful GCC Summit in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia. The minister also acknowledged the constructive and supportive role played by Qatar towards Afghan peace process. 

The two ministers discussed ways to further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations and enhance collaboration in multilateral organizations. They agreed to continue engaging on regional and global issues and working to further strengthen bilateral ties. 

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a telephonic conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

He congratulated his Saudi counterpart on holding a successful Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Al-Ula on 5 January 2021.

Foreign Minister Qureshi thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its support during the 47th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Niamey, in November 2020, in particular for the adoption of OIC resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir dispute and combating Islamophobia. They discussed ways to further deepen and expand bilateral relations and collaborate closely in multilateral organizations.

They also agreed to continue mutual consultations on regional and global issues of common interest. Foreign Minister Qureshi said he looked forward to receiving the Saudi Foreign Minister in Islamabad, at an early date.
