MINSK (92 News) Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, with the leadership of both countries signing agreements and exchanging memoranda of understanding (MoU).
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Belarusian Financial Cooperation Fund for Business and Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).
An agreement for cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan.
A military cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministries of Defence of Pakistan and Belarus, and a roadmap for military cooperation between the two countries from 2025 to 2027 was also presented.
A roadmap was also agreed between the State Authority of the Military Industry of Belarus and the Ministry of Defence Production of Pakistan.
A roadmap was given for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Environmental Protection between Pakistan and Belarus.
A cooperation agreement has been signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Belarus and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that Belarus attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan, adding that there are vast opportunities for promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
“Shehbaz Sharif’s visit will give a new dimension to bilateral relations,” he said and added that holding the Pakistan-Belarus Business Forum is important for promoting trade.
He also said that the opportunities for bilateral trade and economic cooperation should be truly utilised.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the visit of the President of Belarus to Pakistan played an important role in strengthening friendship, adding, “We had fruitful discussions on bilateral relations, and the two countries exchanged memoranda of understanding for cooperation in various fields.”
He also said that there are immense investment opportunities in various sectors of Pakistan, adding that Belarusian companies should take advantage of the investment opportunities and favorable environment in Pakistan.
He says that Pakistan and Belarus should benefit from each other's experiences in the agricultural and industrial sectors, stating that Pakistanis living in Belarus are playing an important role in its construction and development.
