ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Pakistan had strongly rejected India's move to host G-20 meeting in Srinagar.

During the weekly briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan is thankful to China, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt and Oman for not attending the G-20 meeting in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

She said that all steps taken aftermath of the May 9 incidents are being taken as per the constitution and the law. "The facts narrated in the letter sent to the US Congress are incorrect," she added.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that India had clearly failed in hiding the reality in IIOJK under the cover of normalcy. "India has hosted the meeting in IIOJK in complete disregard to the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions, principles of the UN Charter and international law," she added.

The spokesperson pointed out that the G-20 was established primarily to address global financial and economic issues. "By holding this meeting in the occupied territory, India has politicized yet another international forum and is exploiting its position as the current Chair to advance its self-serving agenda."

The FO spokesperson said that India should instead provide unhindered access to the international media and independent human rights organizations to report on the situation in IIOJK.
