Pakistan, China ink 51 accords, MoUs in diverse sectors

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Pakistan and China on Monday signed 51 agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for cooperation in different fields. The agreements were signed by relevant ministers and officials of the two countries in the presence Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Prime Minister House. The two leaders unveiled plaques of eight projects to be undertaken in Pakistan with Chinese assistance. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Xi also performed ground-breaking of five projects through video link. The projects and agreements related to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, research and technology, education and other fields. Addressing a joint press conference with Chinese President, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the agreements and MoUs signed by the two countries for projects in Pakistan have sound financial and technical backing and are being put on fast track. PM Nawaz Sharif remarked that Pakistan’s friendship with China is deeper than oceans, sweeter than honey and stronger than steel. Chinese President Xi Pinying said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will benefit people of both countries. “I am pleased to see my Pakistani friends.” Chinese President Xi Jinping thanked Pakistan for a warm reception.
