Pakistan desires to play role as mediator in ending Yemen conflict: PM

SAUDI ARABIA (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan desires to play the role of a mediator in the Middle East and Pakistan always stands by Saudi Arabia, especially against the attacks from Houthi rebels. In an interview with a Saudi media, Imran Khan said says with the two brotherly countries having strong people-to-people relations and Pakistan will not allow anyone to attack Saudi Arabia and assured it full support. The premier said Pakistan desires to play the role of a mediator in the Middle East and was willing to play a positive part in ending the Yemen conflict. “No one can provide a better expert opinion on terrorism-related matters than Islamabad,” he said. “Pakistan always stands by Saudi Arabia, especially against the attacks from Houthi rebels,” he added. The prime minister stressed that countries of the Islamic world should not have any differences, noting that Pakistan had already been deeply affected by the tensions between Afghanistan and various other countries. The prime minister said Saudi Arabia always helped Pakistan when it has been in a need. He said Pakistan has tremendous opportunities of investments and after completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor, it will have more potential than other countries in this region. About war on terror, Imran Khan said Pakistan's economy suffered a loss of 100 billion dollars while 88,000 Pakistanis were martyred in this war. He also said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region. PM Khan said Pakistan has already very good relationship with China and we need good relationship with Afghanistan and India as well. Regarding the ongoing crises in Libya, Somalia and Syria, the PM further said Saudi Arabia is pivotal country in the Muslim world and can play a big part in ending these conflicts. Imran Khan said Pakistan, which also suffered a lot, will like to play a role of reconciliator to bring Muslim world together. He also praised anti-corruption drive of the Saudi government.
