ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Pakistan embassy in Kabul announced to resume its full consular services with effect from today (Sunday) after 55 days. The embassy made this announcement over Twitter saying: “@PakEmbKabul is happy to announce that it would be resuming its full consular services with effect from Sunday, 29 December, 2019”. On November4, Pakistani Embassy in Kabul closed for an indefinite period due to the harassment diplomats in Afghanistan. “Due to security reasons, Consular Section of the Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul will be closed from tomorrow Monday, 4th November, 2019 until further intimation,” Pakistani mission said in a statement.
A day earlier, Pakistani diplomats have faced harassment by officials in Afghanistan as many complaints were emerged last night. According to the diplomatic sources, the Afghanistan intelligence service’s officials allegedly harassed Pakistani diplomats in Afghanistan. It was also reported that Afghan officials used abusive language with the Pakistani diplomats. The Afghan intelligence agency officials have made it a norm to block the route of Pakistani diplomats’ vehicles and follow the vehicles all the way from their homes to the embassy and from the embassy to the homes. On the other hand, Pakistan has raised the matter with Afghanistan’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The sources further said that the ministry officials are helpless in front of Afghan secret agency as no action has been taken yet. It is pertinent to mention here that the complaints have not emerged for the first time in Afghanistan as Pakistani diplomats faced difficulties in movements in past and harassed by Kabul officials.
