LONDON (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has said that Pakistan faces an acute shortage of water and the construction of dams is inevitable. Addressing a fund-raiser on Tuesday, he said that dams have not been constructed on time to store water. “Criminal negligence was committed regarding construction of dams,” he maintained. The CJP said that the situation will turn complex if water shortage was not overcome. He said that underground water is at 400 feet, while it is at 1,500 feet in some cities. “Entire filth of Lahore is being thrown into the River Ravi,” he added. CJP Mian Saqib Nisar said that they will not be able to collect so much money for the dam. “We will have to look for other methods for the construction of dams. We will have to construct more than one dam. We need honest leadership and the best judiciary,” he observed. He also sought the help of economists with regard the construction of dams.
