NEW YORK (92 News) Pakistan has called for global action against the acquisition of modern and deadly weapons by terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
Syed Atif Raza, Counsellor at the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations (UN), expressed deep concerns at the acquisition and use of modern weapons possessed illegally by terrorist groups, including TTP, BLA, and Majeed Brigade.
While speaking at the "UNSC Arria-Formula meeting on Small Arms and Light Weapons Management in UN Sanctions Regimes", he said that the terrorist groups illegally possess weapons left by the US in Afghanistan, which are being used against the citizens and armed forces of Pakistan.
He also said that terrorist organisations in Afghanistan also receive foreign aid and financial support, stressing that international partners should recover the stockpiles of weapons left in Afghanistan.
Syed Atif Raza further said that terrorist groups should be prevented from accessing these weapons, and effective steps should be taken to prevent the availability of these weapons in the black market.
