Pakistan govt didn’t fulfill its responsibility in case against MQM founder: Merchant

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Sarfraz Merchant has said that the Pakistan government did not fulfill its responsibility in the money laundering case against the MQM founder. In a statement on Thursday, he said that he had presented proofs before the joint investigation team. He called for bringing proofs before a high-level forum. “Scotland Yard told that your political party is getting from RAW. It had written it on paper,” he said. Sarfraz Merchant said, “Our government did not take the issue in a right way and handed over the issue to the FIA and the police.” The Metropolitan police said that it gave an 18-page dossier to Pakistan on September 29. “I was hurriedly called before the JIT.” He said that how Britain tried the case if it had no proofs. “Pakistani agencies did not extend the cooperation sought by Scotland Yard.” Merchant revealed that Scotland wrote letters to several businessmen to participate in the investigations. “The Pakistan government knows all and it did not open Pandora’s Box,” he added. He said that the government should have shown official documents provided by Scotland Yard to the world.
