Pakistan highly values its long-lasting relations with Turkey: PM Shehbaz Sharif

ISTANBUL (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they discussed the matters of mutual interest and bilateral affairs.

Addressing the joint press conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that his meeting with the Turkish president had been very positive. "Leadership of both countries will again meet in September."

He said that Pakistan highly values its long-lasting relations with Turkey. "Both countries have religious, cultural and historic relations," he added.

The PM said that Pakistan will benefit from Turkish experiences in the sectors of e-commerce, education and infrastructure. "Pakistan wants peace and will continue its efforts for peace in the region. India is trying to change the demography of Kashmir. Pakistanis are thankful to Turkey for its clear-cut stance on Kashmir," he maintained.

President Tayyip Erdogan said that both countries are determined to enhance bilateral relations. "Both countries enjoy cordial relations. We are providing all-out cooperation in the manufacturing of ships. Our top priority is to provide economic cooperation for the prosperity of the masses," he added.

Earlier, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan received PM Shehbaz Sharif who was given the guard of honour as well. On the occasion, national anthems of both the countries were played.

MOUs signed in Turkey

1) Memorandum of Understanding between the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and Public Private Partnership Authority of Pakistan.

2) Framework For Knowledge Sharing Program between the Government of Türkiye and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

3) Memorandum of Understanding on Highway Engineering between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Communications of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

4) Joint Ministerial Statement on Developing Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations between the Republic of Türkiye and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

5) Technical Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Türkiye and Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

6) Cooperation Protocol on Debt Management between the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

7) Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye and NAYA Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NAPHDA) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Cooperation in the field of Housing.
