Pakistan, Iceland FMs discuss issue of missing mountaineer

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi telephoned his Iceland counterpart Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson and discussed the issue of missing Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri.

He apprised the Iceland foreign minister about the specific steps taken by the Pakistani authorities to search and rescue the missing mountaineers.

He assured that Pakistan will spare no effort and will extend all possible support in this regard.

The Iceland foreign minister appreciated the ongoing search and rescue operation for John Snorri and other climbers by Pakistani authorities.

Earlier, Pakistani mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara went missing after conquering K2. No link could be made with him and his team.

The Pak Army helicopters are looking for the missing mountaineer. However, the search and rescue operation has been stopped due to bad weather.

President Dr Arif Alvi prayed for the well-being of Muhammad Ali Sadpara and his mountaineer friend.

Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid has appealed to the nation to pray for the recovery of the mountaineer.
