WASHINGTON (92 News) – US State Department Spokesman Mark Toner said that Pakistan and India should hold direct talks to reduce tensions. Addressing media persons in Washington, he said that the US encourages India-Pakistan dialogues to reduce tensions, adding that easing relations and practical cooperation is in the interest of both countries. The spokesman said that Pakistan is carrying out serious and effective action against terrorism, adding that Pakistan should take action against all terrorist groups. “Pakistan is making progress and taking steps to eliminate terrorism,” he added. “There is need to eliminate safe havens of terrorists.” Toner further said that Pakistan-Russian and US-India military exercises were not retaliation or a part of any great game, adding that the US has stepped up security cooperation with India.
