Pak-India Track-II Dialogue's concluding session to be held in Islamabad today

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – As a part of normalising soared relations, the concluding session of the informal talks (Track-II Dialogue) between Pakistan and India will be held in the federal capital on Saturday. The second and final session of the two-day talks will be held on Saturday. The delegations from the two countries include Foreign Office officials, former envoys and others. Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood addressed the inaugural session on Friday. The second phase of talks will take place in New Delhi. The recent talks carry much significance for the two neighbouring countries after tense relations in February this year. The purpose behind the revival of talks is to push the youth of the two countries towards peace and harmony. Tensions between the two nuclear states mounted in the aftermath of the February 14 suicide bombing in Pulwama, occupied Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan for Pulwama attack without giving any solid proof while Pakistan condemned India for infiltrating into its territory and dropping bombs in Balakot in February. Pakistan presented solid proof of Indian aggression and absence of any militant training camp in Balakot. The Indian government was quick to take credit for a “successful" airstrike and put the death toll to over 300. Pakistani officials, as well as the locals, rejected the claims, inviting local and international media to visit the site of the so-called attack where around a dozen trees were the only “casualty”. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF), in retaliatory action, shot two Indian aircraft down the next day, capturing Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan who was then released as a peace gesture. Prime Minister Imran Khan sent congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narindra Modi for getting elected the premier second time in elections and hoped to normalise tensions.
