Pakistan, Iran’s security is inter-linked, says Iranian President

NEW YORK (92 News) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani have on Thursday met in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. During the meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also informed the Iranian President regarding Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir particularly in the last two months. While stressing on the need for building unity and cohesion within the Muslim world, the prime minister said that Pakistan will double the bilateral trade volume after the removal of international sanctions against Iran. He said that the two countries should technical hurdles should be removed to increase cooperation in economic sector. Both sides expressed satisfaction on the positive trajectory of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran. On the occasion, Hassan Rouhani said that Iran wants to join the in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. “Pakistan and Iran's security is inter-linked Iran considered Pakistan's progress as its own,” he said. Iranian President said there is a need for defense ties between Iran and Pakistan. They noted progress on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and electricity import from Iran would help overcome Pakistan’s energy shortages in the coming years.
