Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state: Foreign Office
October 7, 2015
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalillullah has said that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and it remains actively engaged with the international community, including the United States, on nuclear stability and security issues. He said this while responding to a question about a recent article in the Washington Post by David Ignatius. “Pakistan’s nuclear policy is shaped by evolving security dynamics of South Asia, growing conventional asymmetry, provocative doctrines and aggressive posturing by India, which obliges us to take all necessary measures to maintain a full spectrum deterrence capability to safeguard our national security,” he said. The Foreign Office spokesman said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in South Asia. He said that the National Command Authority led by the prime minister formulates Pakistan’s atomic policy.
