Pakistan is demanding climate justice, not compensation: PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is demanding climate justice, not compensation.

In an interview to the British newspaper Financial Times, Shehbaz Sharif said that Imran Khan is taking advantage of the flood situation in the country. “What Pakistan wants from the world is not a postponement or rescheduling of loan repayments, but funds for flood damages. Lack of required funds threatens political instability in the country.”

The prime minister said that the flood has caused a loss of 30 billion dollars which requires money from the international community. “Pakistan is demanding climate justice, not compensation. Pakistan needs billions of dollars to cover the flood damage but the gap between the amount needed and the aid received from the world is increasing.”
