Pakistan on path to enduring peace and stability: COAS

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan is going through an evolutionary process of its journey to enduring peace and stability after withstanding challenges in recent past on Thursday. He was addressing student officers and faculty of Staff Course 2018/19 at Command and Staff College in Quetta. Sharing his thoughts on national security, the army chief said the process is slow but on a positive trajectory. He said we need to stay steadfast and carry forward the efforts towards set national objectives. Acknowledging the contributions and performance of young officers in the counter terrorism operations as well as during recent standoff along eastern border, General Bajwa appreciated the officers for their professional pursuits to meet and prevail over future challenges of national security.
PM, COAS discuss overall security situation
A daye earlier,   Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan here at Prime Minister Office. According to the details, security issues were discussed during the meeting. The army chief briefed the Prime Minister on overall security situation in the country. The matters pertaining to overall situation of the country’s sovereignty was also reviewed in the meeting.
Earlier, General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited troops on forward posts along Pak-Afghan border at Dawatoi in North Waziristan.

According to a press release issued by the ISPR, COAS was briefed about progress on border fencing, sanitisation operation, socio-economic development projects and rehabilitation of TDPs.

For this, Pakistan is solidifying border through fencing, construction of new forts and posts and increase in strength of FC troops to effectively manage the border.
