NEW YORK (92 News) - Pakistan has put forward case of oppressed Palestinians before the United Nations (UN) on Thursday.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has addressed the emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) today where he called for an immediate end to Israeli aggression and urges UNGA to hold Israel accountable for war crimes.

The foreign minister gave Pakistan’s stance on the Palestine issue besides condemning the brutalities and barbaric attacks of Israeli occupation forces in Gaza. Strongly condemning the atrocities of Israeli forces against Palestinians, he said that Israel attacked Palestine during the holy month, Palestine is abiding by all international laws and treaties, but innocent unarmed Palestinians are being subjected to aggression, Israeli barbarism on Palestine should be ended immediately.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that children and women in Palestine have been martyred by Israel with great cruelty, the Israeli bombing in Gaza is responsible for every martyrdom. "More than 50,000 Palestinians have been evicted from their homes," he added.

The foreign minister said that the buildings destroyed by the Israeli bombing in Gaza were seen by the whole world. The UN Security Council (UNSC) has failed miserably in its role. "Our first priority is to stop Israeli aggression," he maintained.

He said that the UNGA should demand an immediate ceasefire, this war is between the people of the occupied territories and the military occupiers. "Whether or not we do something about human compassion today will be part of history. Aid should be sent to Gaza and other occupied territories on the basis of immediate humanitarian ground."

FM Qureshi said that this war is between a military power and those who have no aircraft, navy or security. "On the one hand there is modern power and on the other hand there is the spirit of 'jihad'. If the General Assembly cannot send troops there for peace, then an alliance of allied countries should be formed. Gaza is facing food shortages as a result of Israeli aggression," he mentioned.

The minister said that the number of displaced Palestinians has crossed the 50,000 mark and children and women are being martyred in the Occupied Palestinian Territory including more than 250 people who lost their lives in the continued attacks of Israeli forces.

He said the global nations are now needed to act on an important issue. Israel’s air strikes are responsible for the taking of every single life of Abu Hatab’s family including two women and eight children. 10,000 Palestinians have displaced from their homes in Gaza due to the air attacks by Israel, whereas, they are facing an acute shortage of drinkable water, food, hygiene and health facilities.

He called on the Human Rights Council, the International Court of Justice and other international bodies of justice to hold Israel accountable for its atrocities. "Israel must be held accountable." He added that in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, it is necessary to establish a viable and independent Palestinian state, in which Al-Quds Al-Sharif should be made the capital. "Arrangements should be made to send all immediate food and relief supplies to Gaza, only a decisive decision can restore the dignity of the General Assembly," he added.
