Pakistan-Qatar failed to sign LNG supply contracts, supply to close after October

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will be closed after October as Pakistan failed to sign LNG supply contracts with Qatar. Petroleum Ministry source told 92 News that the no new contract could be signed to import LNG and the talks with Qatar could not produce positive results. “The government is importing 144,000 cubic feet from the private sector,” sources revealed. The LNG is being provided to the fertilizer factories despite providing it to CNGs that arrived at Port Qasim through ship. CNG Association chairman Ghias Piracha said that the CNG owners have paid the government in advance for the LNG import. On the other hand, private power plants have refused to buy LNG, as the PSO said, to buy LNG everyone would have to pay in advance. The government will have to millions of dollars under capacity charges if new contracts could not be signed.
