Pakistan questions India’s silence over bilateral nuclear test ban arrangement at UN
October 12, 2016
NEW YORK (92 News) – Pakistan has questioned India’s silence to the proposal made by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his address to the General Assembly in September for a bilateral nuclear test ban arrangement between India and Pakistan at the United Nations. The question was raised by Pakistan’s Mission to the UN Second Secretary Yasar Ammar during the General Assembly’s First Committee debate which deals with disarmament and international security matters. He invited attention of the Committee to the fact that India is also trying to find space below Pakistan’s perceived nuclear threshold to fight a conventional war. In response to Indian allegations on sponsoring terrorism, Pakistan’s representative said that it is unfortunate that India always chose to divert attention of the international community from its irresponsible actions by making frivolous comments.
