Pakistan Railways announces reduction in train fares

LAHORE (92 News) – The Pakistan Railways on Wednesday announced to reduce fares on specific trains. The notification to reduce fares of the special trains has been issued. As per notification, the fares of 21 special trains have been reduced by 25 per cent. As per the fare schedule, 25 per cent reduction has been made in fares of AC business class and AC standard class and it will be only applicable on advance booking. The Pakistan Railways on the advice of Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has reduced the fares on 21 express trains. The reduction in train fares will be applicable from March 9 to May 8, reads the notification. Earlier, Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced to form a legal cell to counter corrupt practices and pending corruption cases in the department. According to reports, the cell is being formed on the directives of Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad to capture ill-reputed officers and officials. The cell that will comprise officers from the Railways ministry and attached departments will help resolve pending cases in the department. The corrupt officers will be facing exemplary punishments in the light of the recommendations of the cell.
