Pakistan ready to provide any assistance to Kerala flood victims: PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed grief over the devastation caused by floods in Indian state Kerala. In a Twitter message on Thursday, he said: “On behalf of the people of Pakistan, we send our prayers and best wishes to those who have been devastated by the floods in Kerala, India.” The prime minister said that they stand ready to provide any humanitarian assistance that may be needed to Kerala flood victims. Torrential rain that began in Kerala on August 8 killed 231 people, destroyed tens of thousands of homes, and washed away roads and bridges, leading to an estimated loss of at least 200 billion rupees ($2.85 billion). The rain eased over the weekend as the focus of efforts turned to relief and rehabilitation from rescue. The main opposition Congress has accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of exacerbating the crisis by failing to come through with more aid and creating obstacles to foreign help.
