Pakistan records 40 deaths, 1,245 new cases in one day

LAHORE (92 News) – Pakistan has recorded 40 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 12,527 on Friday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the 1,245 fresh infections were reported in the last 24 hours as the number of positive cases has surged to 568,506.

The total count of active cases is 24,139. In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,243 patients have recovered from the virus in a day and 1,626 patients are still in critical condition.

A total of 34,754 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 531,840 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 8,602,515 samples have been tested thus far.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Most numbers of casualties have been reported in Punjab.

Till now 255,039 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 166,242 in Punjab, 70,493 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,967 in Balochistan, 43,145 in Islamabad, 9,673 in Azad Kashmir and 4,947 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore 5,166 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 4,267 in Sindh, 2,020 in KP, 199 in Balochistan, 488 in Islamabad, 285 in Azad Kashmir and 102 in GB.
