Pakistan remembers 1965 War Hero MM Alam on 6th death anniversary
March 18, 2019
LAHORE (92 news) – Pakistan paid tribute to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilot and 1965 war hero Mohammad Mahmood Alam on his sixth death anniversary on Monday, who passed away on March 18, 2013. In September 1965, MM Alam had encountered Indian war jets at three different points.
MM Alam shot down five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets in one minute during the 1965 war, making a world record in shooting most jets in shortest time. In less than a minute, five military jets of the Indian Air Force were downed one after another by Alam as he hit targets flying his Seber-86 jet. The precision and craft with which he carried the strikes continue to startle the air force soldiers to this day. The National hero was remembered and paid tribute by the nation on their twitter account. Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Faisal Muhammad took his twitter and said “The nation observed sixth death anniversary of national hero MM Alam – who downed five enemy planes within a minute during 1965 war – flying his Saber-86 jet. His flying skills, precision and professionalism remain unparalleled in the history of airforce.”   Paying tribute, one user wrote: "Salute to the national hero Air Commodore Muhammad Mahmood Alam SJ . Remembering him on his 6th death anniversary."
