Pakistan, Saudia agree to remain engaged to reduce Saudi-Iran tension

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to remain engaged and consult closely to reduce Saudi-Iran tension. The agreement came during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s separate meetings with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in Riyadh. During the meeting of the prime minister with Saudi leadership, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to take forward PM Khan's initiative to ensure peace and security in the region. “Pakistan is ready to facilitate efforts for de-escalation of tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran,” Imran Khan said in the meeting.
Pakistan always be shoulder-to-shoulder with Saudi Arabia
PM Khan stressed the importance of avoidance of military conflict and constructive engagement of all the parties. He also reaffirmed that Pakistan will always be shoulder-to-shoulder with Saudi Arabia.
Saudia admires serious efforts of PM towards peace in region
The Saudi leadership admired serious efforts of Imran Khan towards promoting peace and stability in the region and the impact of this initiative on de-escalation of tensions. During these meetings, Prime Minister also apprised the Saudi leadership of grave human rights and humanitarian situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir including continuous lockdown, curfew and other communication restrictions for 73 days that seriously imperiled peace and security in the region.
Saudi leadership supports Pakistan on Kashmir cause
The Saudi leadership reaffirmed its commitment to close ties with Pakistan and reiterated the resolve to deepen bilateral collaboration in all fields including trade, energy, security and defence. Saudi leadership also supported the just cause of Kashmir and reiterated the importance of avoiding escalation of tensions and a peaceful resolution of the issue. Earlier addressing a joint news conference along with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani after their meeting in Tehran today, Imran Khan said in today’s meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, we also discussed the issues between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Hassan Rouhani welcomes Pakistani gesture for peace

“I told Prime Minster Imran we welcome any gesture by Pakistan for peace in the region and appreciate his visit to our country,” said Irnaian President Rouhani at a joint press conference with the premier. Rouhani said that the two leaders had discussed, among other things, the war in Yemen and the sanctions by the US on Iran. “Regional issues have to be resolved through regional means and dialogue. We also emphasised that any goodwill gesture will be responded with a goodwill gesture and good words,” said the Iranian president. “We also discussed how the nuclear deal could be restored,” Rouhani added.
