WASHINGTON (92 News) – US State Department Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Pakistan Henry S Ensher said that the US will continue its pressure on Pakistan until it changes its policy towards regional peace and stability in Afghanistan. Addressing a symposium in Washington, the US official termed that Pakistan has better opportunities to make bilateral relation, but Islamabad has to change its old Afghan policy with the new US-aligned one. He further said efforts to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan were of primary importance and a major area of policy divergence, at the moment, with Pakistan despite the important bilateral linkage having many common interests. Henry elaborated that the US admired Pakistan’s sacrifices against the terrorism, adding that the internal situation of the country has been improved. “It also can be neglected that some foreign elements has save havens its territory.” “We have seen some action but we have not seen the decisive steps from Pakistan that could demonstrate commitment, ensuring their territory cannot be used by the Taliban, the Haqqani Network and bring instability in the region,” the US official said. The US State Department official said that the US ready to play its best role for bilateral negotiations between Pakistan and India to reduce the tensions and to resolve disputes including Kashmir issue.
