Pakistan Stock Exchange turns bullish, gains 484 points

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around to bullish trend on Wednesday, gaining 484.35 points, a positive change of 0.77 percent, closing at 63,703.45 points against 63,219.10 points the previous trading day.

A total of 461,390,885 shares valuing Rs 16.000 billion were traded during the day as compared to 409,962,895 shares valuing Rs14.675 billion the last day. Some 355 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 180 of them recorded gains and 149 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 26 remained unchanged.

Rupee gains 16 paisa against dollar

The rupee gained 16 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 279.11 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 279.27. The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 279.2 and Rs 282.1, respectively.

The price of the Euro decreased by Rs1.07 to close at Rs 302.11 against the last day’s closing of Rs 303.18. The Japanese Yen remained unchanged to close at Rs185, whereas a decrease of Rs1.11 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs 353.30 compared to the last closing of Rs 354.41.

The exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal decreased by 04 paisa each to close at Rs 75.99 and Rs 74.42 respectively.
