Pakistan has suffered a lot in war against terror: US

WASHINGTON (92 News) – US State Department spokesman Mark Toner has on Thursday said that Pakistan has suffered a lot in the war against terror and suffered major terrorist attacks including Army Public School (APS) Peshawar which left more than 150 children dead. Addressing news briefing in Washington on Thursday, Mark Toner said that the progress has been made to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries in Pakistan, adding that Pakistan has regained control of area that were under the control of terrorists and for this Pakistan has rendered many sacrifices. He said that the United States will continue to support Pakistan's efforts to combat terrorism and build a more stable and democratic society. The spokesman said that Pakistan must take action against all armed groups including those carrying out attacks from neighboring countries and eliminate all safe havens. Toner further lauded Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif’s statement that Pakistan's soil will not be allowed to be used against any other country. When asked if the United States still supports UN resolutions promising right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir, the spokesman said US policy and position on Kashmir has not changed. However, he said the United States wants Pakistan and India to hold dialogue to settle the Kashmir issue.
