Pakistan summons Indian Deputy HC lodges protest

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Foreign Office has on Tuesday summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh and lodged a strong protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces and martyrdom of three Pakistani citizens. The Director General, South Asia summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Foreign Office in Islamabad today and strongly condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations yesterday by the Indian Forces on the LoC in Khuirata and Battal sectors. The Director General said unprovoked firing by Indian forces resulted in martyrdom of three civilians, including two women, in unprovoked firing by Indian troops at Khoi Ratta and Battal sectors of the Line of Control yesterday. Pakistani forces responded befittingly and targeted Indian military posts. The firing in Battal sector was continuing when the last reports came in. One person in Khoi Ratta Sector, while two women, Kalsoom and her daughter Amina, in Mandol village embraced martyrdom. Indian forces also resorted to unprovoked firing across the LOC at Sabzkot, Nekrun and Sharda, Tander, and Baroh Sectors and targeting civilian population living along LOC. Pakistan's Foreign Office summoned India's deputy high commissioner on Tuesday to condemn the firing, the government said in a statement. Three people were also killed on Monday, in the Pakistan-administered area of Nakyal, after a similar exchange of fire. Tension between India and Pakistan has been high since July, when Indian forces killed a young innocent Kashmiri Burhan Wani in Indian-held Kashmir, prompting months of protests and a security crackdown that has claimed more than 100 lives.
