Pakistan to continue help for political reconciliation in Afghanistan: FM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – United States Representative Zalmay Khalilzad called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday. He apprised the foreign minister about details of US President Trump’s letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said that the US president had written the letter to seek Pakistan’s cooperation in the Afghan reconciliation process. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan will continue its cooperation for political reconciliation in Afghanistan honestly. “Peace in Afghanistan is in the best interests of Pakistan,” he said. He welcomed US President Donald Trump’s message for seeking Pakistan cooperation in the Afghan reconciliation process. Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua represented Pakistan during the talks in the Foreign Office. Khalilzad will also travel to Afghanistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar in a stepped-up effort to find a peaceful end to the Afghan war.
