Pakistan, Turkey indispensable partners: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan and Turkey are indispensable partners working for peace and prosperity in the region. Addressing the meeting of the Pakistan-Turkey Strategic Cooperation Council on Tuesday, the prime minister said that both countries will continue to cooperate with each other in the fields of security, defence and anti-terrorism. He thanked Turkey for its unflinching support over the Peshawar tragedy. He said that they had resolved to further strengthen bilateral relations during the talks. Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Pakistan is his second house. “I am glad that I am visiting Pakistan for the second time and as prime minister first time,” he added. He said that Pakistan and Turkey are entering the new period of relations. He called for increasing air ties with Pakistan. “We have agreed to cooperate in the fields of transport and energy,” he said. The Turkish prime minister said that they are against every kind of terrorism. “We have always received cooperation from Pakistan people and government during difficult time,” he said. He expressed his resolve to increase the volume of bilateral trade to US$3 billion. Meanwhile, both countries signed 11 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on the occasion.
