Pakistan wants peace in region, no one can isolate it now: FM Qureshi

WASHINGTON (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan wants peace in the region and no one can isolate it now. Addressing a press conference before the coming visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the United States on Friday, he expressed hope that the PM’s visit would improve Pak-US relations. “Some people want to push Pakistan to the grey list,” he said. He said that COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor would also accompany the prime minister during the US visit. The foreign minister said that the Kashmir dispute cannot be ignored. “The people are saying in India that Kashmir is going out of the Indian control,” he said. “Pakistan will take two steps if India takes one for peace.” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan and United States are going to hold a summit meeting after a gap of five years and the visit will help improve Pak-US relations. “Prime Minister Imran Khan will hold wide ranging talks with the US leadership during his visit.” He said that President Donald Trump will receive Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House. “Two meetings between Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Donald Trump will be held. The first meeting will take place at the Oval Office whereas the second one will take place in the Cabinet Room,” he said. The foreign minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan would also hold meetings with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank besides an interaction with the members of Pakistani community in the United States. He said that the prime minister will also hold a meeting with the businessmen and traders. About the Afghan issue, he said that Pakistan’s peace is linked to peace in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan is facing numerous economic challenges. “We will create favourable environment for investment. We want to give facilities to the investors in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor,” he said.
